Shanghai-based gallery BANK is launching a temporary pilot space in New York at 127 Elizabeth Street, Nolita, aiming to expand recognition for artists from China and the Asian diaspora. The space debuts with a solo exhibition by L.A.-based artist Patty Chang and the group show Braided Stream (March 20–April 28), curated by Yuan Fuca. Founded in 2013 by Mathieu Borysevicz, BANK has played a key role in China’s contemporary art scene, representing artists like Michael Lin and Chen Tianzhuo. Alongside its New York expansion, the gallery is relocating within Shanghai to a historic complex centered around a 1928 László Hudec-designed mansion, opening with a solo exhibition by Lin Ke on March 22.
