South Korean artist Ayoung Kim has won the 2025 LG Guggenheim Award for her innovative fusion of art and technology. Known for integrating AI, virtual reality, and game simulation into her work, Kim creates immersive worlds that blend ancient cosmologies with modern digital advancements. She sees technology as a tool to explore its societal impact rather than as inherently good or bad. Guggenheim deputy director Naomi Beckwith praised her for addressing deep questions about time and human experience in a fast-changing digital age. Kim, the award’s third recipient since 2023, will receive a USD 100,000 honorarium and be featured in an upcoming Guggenheim program in New York.
