Jakarta, Indonesia - [20th June 2024] - ArtMoments Jakarta 2024 is set to make a grand return, captivating art enthusiasts and collectors with its highly anticipated exhibition at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel. The event will be held from August 9 to 11, 2024, with a special VIP invitation-only preview on August 9. This year's theme is "Renewal." This concept is deeply intertwined with human life, encompassing personal growth, social transformation, cultural rejuvenation, technological advancement, and environmental sustainability.
ArtMoments Jakarta 2024 will feature over 30 distinguished galleries, both national and international, showcasing a diverse range of contemporary artworks. The event promises to be a significant cultural milestone, offering an exceptional platform for artists and galleries to connect with a broader audience and foster a deeper appreciation for modern, contemporary, and media art. Additionally, there will be an art fair tour, after-hours events, and side events where collectors, artists, galleries, and art enthusiasts will gather, creating numerous opportunities for networking and engagement. The fair will also present a series of compelling programs and expert speakers, covering topics such as "The Challenge of Media Art Ownership," "Art Repartition & Preservation," "The Joy and Risk of Art Collection," "RENEWAL: Seni Hari Ini dan Masa Depan," as well as a Mini Talkshow and Charity Auction with the S. Sudjojono Center.
The event will be inaugurated with a remarkable art performance by world-class artist Heri Dono, a renowned contemporary and media artist from Yogyakarta, celebrated as the first Indonesian artist to break into the global art scene in the early '90s. He will present a visual interpretation of poetry through dance movements accompanied by duck-themed artwork, serving as a poignant critique of the New Order government, adding a profound layer of meaning to the event's theme. “Heri Dono is a symbol of progressive ideas of renewal in Indonesian art history, blending traditional values and modes with a non-Western paradigm. It brings a new perspective in bridging the past, present, and future,” said Sudjud Dartanto, the new artistic director of ArtMoments 2024 “Renewal”.
"We are thrilled to bring ArtMoments Jakarta back to the heart of the city, providing a dynamic and profound platform for galleries and artists to explore the multidimensional theme of 'Renewal,'" said Dr. Sendy Widjaja, the Co-Founder and Fair Director. "This event is designed to inspire, challenge, and celebrate renewal in all its forms, fostering a deeper understanding of transformation and growth in personal, social, and environmental realms," said Sudjud.
Adding to the excitement, there will be a collaboration called ArtWonder, featuring new media art from Indonesia and its sister cities. This initiative will showcase cutting-edge works that blend technology and creativity, highlighting the innovative spirit of contemporary artists.
